Aleksander Doba was a Polish man who kayaked across the Atlantic Ocean by himself three times while he was in his 70's. He described the feat as a real "katorga," which is the Polish word for forced labor in Siberia. But by katorga, he did not mean an activity he does not wish to do. What most of us experience as suffering he repurposed as contrarian self-determination, and that gave him an existential thrill.
We are inspired by Mr. Doba's commitment to doing a task with the energy the task demands.
